Why Tree Service Is Not Cheap
There are different aspects of tree service that present a wide variety of costs, but generally the most expensive tree service is tree removals. To some, it can be difficult to understand the price that comes along with removing a tree when it appears to be as simple as cutting it down with a chainsaw. In most cases, there is much more involved to the process of a tree removal than just cutting it down and hauling it off.
Tree Complexity
A tree that is being removed often needs to come down in sections and pieces to avoid dropping it on the yard, driveway, septic tank, or more. This is the safest approach to avoid damage to a roof and the landscape below. There are numerous articles of untrained workers or home owners that just don’t understand how a tree reacts to being cut down, especially if leaning one way or dead. Heavy duty equipment is generally needed, and this stuff is not cheap to buy nor maintain. Some of the equipment we are referring to can cost as much or more than a house.
Tree Difficulty
Tree removal and tree pruning is one of the most dangerous jobs in the world. Most of the time there is a reason for the tree removal. It may pose a risk to a home, powerline, or other structure. This is another factor in pricing when the tree is requested to be removed, and it has been neglected for years, over a house, dying or has storm damage. Trees over a home or powerline are also a large risk, and expertise is needed.
License & Insurance
Due to the danger of tree work, tree companies should always have their own personal insurance and licensing that protect the customer, their belongings, and the tree crew. In this industry, you get what you pay for, and cheap isn’t normally better. A cheap tree company may not carry their own insurance leaving the customer at high risk in an event of an emergency. You should always verify with your hired company if they have insurance before starting their work.
Trained Professionals
Just because they claim “professional”, doesn’t always mean it. It is best to find a tree service that has years of experience, and a history of credentials and good reviews. Unless you believe you found the right company the first time, do not be scared to interview multiple companies local to you to find the best tree arborist for your trees. Ask to see a copy of their liability insurance, they shouldn’t be trying to prove themselves to you from the start. Be weary if a company hesitates to provide information regarding this.
Find a True Professional Tree Company
A professional arborist can asses your property and trees and advise on what is best to do with them. End weight reduction may be better than removing a whole limb if the tree is healthy, leaving you with more shade and a beautiful tree.
