Forestry Mulching
What is Forestry Mulching?
Forestry mulching is a method of land clearing, used to remove specific trees, brush, vines and more, leaving behind a beautiful and useful layer of mulch. Mulching is generally more time efficient than a ground crew running through with chainsaws, or a tractor with a brush hog attachment. It is also more cost efficient than hiring a bull dozer, excavator, or other large machinery to come do the job. A one operator machine can mulch an entire property, and take stumps flush to the ground, ready to be driven on, seeded, or mowed over.
The end result to mulching is a nice layer of finely cut mulch that provides protection against erosion and water run off, and it also replenishes the soil with the nutrients from which sprouted upon it. A forestry mulcher can work in densely wooded and forest areas, that would be complicated to walk through, or have large equipment on. These machines can work in any type of weather, and on softer surfaces meaning this can be done at practically any time of the year. Forestry mulching is environmentally friendly compared to other options as it leaves trees unharmed that are desired to be kept, and leaves their root system in healthy shape.
Why choose to mulch?
To keep it simple, forestry mulching is the most cost effective method. There are a few options to land clearing, them being chainsaw or tractor, mulcher, or bulldozing and hauling away. Cutting with a chainsaw and hauling away have a lower cost but are very time consuming and may end up with a steep labor cost. A bulldozer and loader will be fast, but will also have a steep cost, and then must haul it away if it wont be burned. With that you also pay labor and multiple operators to use machinery. Forestry mulching is normally one machine, and one operator, so in the end the equipment and operator cost, along with time frame, keep the price very fair. By mulching most of everything, it eliminates many of the time consuming tasks involved in clearing such as cutting, hauling, and cleaning up.
If mother nature was asking, she would prefer forestry mulching. It is the environmentally friendly option. Using one machine cuts down on air pollution and fuel needed to complete the task. These machines leave the soil unharmed and the mulched debris can be left on the property to slowly decay, while acting as a barrier to rain wash and erosion.
These machines also have the ability to mulch land in wet weather, tight areas, or on uneven ground. They usually do not require permitting, which makes it a great choice for any type of potential project.
Who Chooses to Forestry Mulch?
Upkeep on woodland and farm areas can be high maintenance. It is also a time consuming and tiring job. Maintaining road access, fence lines, and other things are a few job that are made easier by a forestry mulcher. Farmers and land owners, and also golf course and commercial properties use mulching as a time and cost effective method to keeping up with their land.
